Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine

Hachiman shrines are dedicated to the god of war, who protects the Minamoto clan. It was built in 1191, but the first temple was near the sea and was moved. The path that leads to the advance between two water lily ponds, one was for the Genji clan, another was for Heike, the one of Genji has three islands within a pond. Three means life. Other side, Heike was Genji’s rival and has 4 islands, four means death.
