The city of Osaka is recognized, along with Tokyo, as one of the most modern cities in the world. As one of the best examples of artistic beauty with state-of-the-art technology, there is the “Umeda Sky Building” tower, a short distance from Osaka Station.
The building consists of two equal 40-story towers connected at the top with bridges and an escalator across the wide central atrium. The building is crowned by a platform measuring 54 by 54 meters, perforated in its center by a glass ring.
The tower was designed by Hiroshi Hara, who also designed Kyoto Station.
The tower has a cinema, an art gallery, a clinic, restaurants and shops, although its main attraction is the observatory called the Floating Garden.
To get to the roof of the building it is necessary to go up 40 floors in an elevator. There visitors can buy tickets to enjoy the observatory and continue through transparent stairs that lead to the floor of the observatory itself.
The observatory has two floors. One is totally inside the building. It has works of art, restaurants and a cool environment to recreate. The second floor is totally open-air and offers a 360-degree view of the entire city of Osaka.
One of the best moments to visit the Tower is at sunset, when you see the entire city change colors and light up at night, a visual spectacle you cannot miss.
But, in the Umeda Sky Building not everything is futuristic but you can also enjoy a walk through an alley anchored in the Taisho period (1912-1926) of Japan.
On the B1 floor of the building is the “Takimi Koji” alley where modernity and nostalgia meet. Replicating the Japanese cityscape of the 1920s, this gastronomic alley is gaining popularity among tourists as a gourmet spot to savor food and experience the atmosphere of Osaka.
Umeda Sky Building is one of the symbols of the city of Osaka being a highly recommended visit due to its importance for residents, along with its beauty, majesty and history.
Watching a sunset at the viewpoint is an extraordinary experience that should not be missed.
